Blog series: The history, evolution and future of the press release
July 18th, 2006 by Todd Van Hoosear
Okay, okay. I have yet to finish either of my first two blog series. I swore I’d finish the first one in the second one, and I swear I’ll finish the first two here. In fact, they’re all coming together quite nicely. Trust me! I’m a PR guy! Would I lie to you?
In light of the recent brouhaha around the press release (no, it wasn’t Tom who started it, but he sure was the catalyst), and given that the press release is celebrating what is widely said to be its 100th anniversary this year, I thought it would be interesting to trace the origins of this phenomenon. So I present The history, evolution and future of the press release:
- The history of the press release
- The evolution of the press release
- The problems with the press release
- The present and near future of the press release
- The far-flung future of the press release
Enjoy!
