Topaz Partners announces BMOC 2.0

July 17th, 2006 by Susan

Today, Topaz Partners announced its latest Buzz Media and Online Communications service suite, aptly (or annoyingly–you be the judge) titled BMOC 2.0. While many PR firms offer online/buzz media experts on staff to clients, at Topaz the entire team is embracing the online/buzz media world–we are integrating BMOC services into each and every program we run for our clients, no matter how low-tech they may be.

Every staffer is getting trained on everything from RSS to podcasting to social media and search tools. The result should be better service to our clients, more efficient operations at Topaz, and smarter PR folks. Now if only we can figure out what to do with that dratted press release…

Oh, maybe that’s coming soon…

Sounds amazing! I think even the most low-tech of companies can see huge benefits from at least being offered strategic consulting in web 2.0 and internet communication trends.

I am always discouraged when I find companies, especially PR agencies, put out “podcasts” that are just links to mp3 files without an RSS feed or anything.

It’s not too hard, and there are tools that automate it. All you have to do is call a phone number and speak into the phone, for goodness sake. Then it’s ready to be posted–just add water, er, a title, a description, and post. Boom. You’ve reached a much larger audience.

I hope you teach the broader implications and potential risks associated with Web 2.0.

KEEP IN MIND: With the mindset of “just add water, er, a title, a description, and post… you’ve reached a much larger audience”… I will be there when it go “Boom.”

Just because it’s easy doesn’t mean you should do it. Very true, Amanda.

But what’s the downside of adding a 2-minute podcast to each press release you write?

By the way, I love your combination of tongue-in-cheek and hard-hitting blogging. Keep it up, and thanks for the visit!
