Old school meets new school in tech mashup

September 20th, 2006 by Todd Van Hoosear

Voting’s nothing new, even the electronic kind. Print magazines have been around for a long time now. And the web is no spring chicken either. But mix them together, and add the idea of consumer-generated content, and you get JPG Magazine, which, you may not be surprised to find out, focuses on digital photography.

Is this where magazines are headed: fire the editorial staff and stick to user-generated content? Well, come to think of it, that’s not anything new–’zines have been accepting contributed articles for years, and even occasionally pay for them.
