Boston’s inaugural Social Media Club meeting scheduled for Nov. 2, 6pm

October 19th, 2006 by Todd Van Hoosear

Can social media tools change the way marketers, consumers, organizations and journalists interact? What practices can individuals, institutions and corporations put in place now to better communicate ideas, benefits, opinions and needs?

Please join your Boston-based peers from PR agencies, marketing groups, academia, mainstream journalists and bloggers/podcasters in this new effort to further the science and art of social media:

November 2, 2006 — 6:00-8:30pmSocial Media Club Inaugural Boston Meeting— at the Colonnade Hotel Boston (Boston Ballroom)

We’re proud to announce the first official meeting of the Boston Chapter of the Social Media Club.

In an interactive forum, founder Chris Heuer will discuss “The Rise of Social Media” and give an overview of the latest in tools, technologies and success stories. Chris will share accomplishments from other chapters and suggest possible next steps. With guidance from Chris, our new group will set goals and start sharing opinions on the role of social media in the present and future of PR, marketing and journalism.

This gathering is held in conjunction with the Society for New Communications Research‘s Inaugural Research Symposium and Awards Celebration at The Colonnade Hotel.

We look forward to seeing you on November 2! Food and drink will be provided!

  • Jen McClure of the SNCR, who will give us a run-down on the SNCR events, and share their future plans
  • PodCamp Co-Founder Chris Brogan, who will talk about content networks and citizen-embedded journalism
  • ProxPro Founder Julian Bourne, who will share his insights into social media and his plans for mobile-enabled social networking
