PodCamp spreads across the nation
November 10th, 2006 by Doug
Shame on me for not posting about this sooner. Our great experience at PodCamp Boston in September (co-sponsoring with our client Podcast Ready) is being replicated in several locations across the country — and internationally.
What is PodCamp?
PodCamp is a free “un-conference,” or BarCamp-style conference, for people who create, enjoy or are interested in learning more about the following: blogs, vlogs, audio podcasts, web video, content networks and new media monetization. Show up, meet people, make connections, propose sessions, learn and teach…
A couple of these are coming up quickly, and I will assume that the call for sponsors remains open until the sweet end.
First, PodCamp Pittsburgh is imminent — Nov. 10- 12, in fact, and being organized by Justin Kownacki of the “Something to be Desired” podcast.
Next, PodCamp West is Nov. 18-19 in San Francisco. Vic Podcaster has been working hard to assemble an intriguing attendee list that includes a number of folks from the “traditional” media– a mix that I firmly believe needs to happen more and more….
The rest planned so far (and the beauty part is anyone interested can join up to help or start another one):
- Podcamp Germany – January 12 – 14 in Berlin
- Podcamp Philly – January 20-21, 2007
- Podcamp Toronto – February 24-25, 2007
- Podcamp Atlanta – March 2007
- Podcamp NYC – April 14-15
- PodCamp Boston 2 – May 5-6, 2007
- Podcasters Across Borders and PodCamp Canada at Kingston – June 23-24, 2007
Congratulations and best of luck to all of the organizers, and an extra shout-out to Chris Penn, Chris Brogan, Bryan Person and the rest of the original PodCamp Boston organizers who got this snowball rolling.
Anyone who would like to sponsor– please dive in!

It is great to see PodCamp is spreading both around the country, and to Canada and Germany. Can there be any doubt that there is a hunger and passion for podcasting?
A shame that I can’t be at the event in Pittsburgh, which is now underway.
Doug, we’re forever grateful to Topaz for its sponsorship of the very first PodCamp back in September. You helped make it a success!
