Tomorrow (or today, for those of you reading this on Wednesday) at 6:45pm, Sooz will restart a grand and longstanding tradition of social media sushi in Boston. So please join Sooz, guest of honor Giovanni Gallucci and many others at Osushi in the downtown Westin hotel. Please RSVP on Upcoming.org or give Sooz a call so she can plan accordingly.
Also, a reminder that we have a great program taking place on Thursday with a good size turnout expected–that happens when you get Fake Steve Jobs, Wal-Mart and Forrester together in the same room. Still time to sign up!

Well, it finally happened: Facebook failed me. For a long while, it was infallible. I was willing to put up with the flaws that lay beneath the perfect exterior: the application “kinks”, the bacn, the gift notifications that for the life of me I can’t get rid of. Why? Because it was my savior. My way to reconnect with old friends and colleagues after years of slow, painful and lingering email overload and poor phone habits (like not returning calls from my dad from three days ago, but I still love you pops).
But then it happened. My longest standing friend (since 4th grade bro!) got engaged and I was absolutely the last person to know. Why? because he and everybody else assumed that I–Mr. Social Media, Facebook Is The Best Thing That Happened To Me Since I Discovered Girls And Married A Very Cute And Smart One–saw him update his status note, change his relationship status, and respond to the dozen or so well-wishers from his wall who did apparently catch wind of the news via Facebook. Alas, I didn’t. But I did notice that Robert Scoble and Martha Stewart got fake happy face balloons, that Scott Monty is kicking ass in movie trivia and that my friend Mike wants me to catch some rare form of lycanthropy.
So here’s an official congratulations on your engagement Kolyan DasGupta and Maricar Balite! Sorry I miised the engagement notice but I won’t miss the wedding!
And Facebook, well, you’re on notice! Snap to, my friend! I’m a very forgiving man–just ask my second longest-standing friend about… well… we don’t have to go into that, right? No, I didn’t think so. And we won’t have to, as long as you keep me in the digital know…
