Social Media Face to Face is Ace.

November 28th, 2007 by Doug

This morning (Nov 28), I attended the second Jeff Pulver Facebook event in the last few weeks. Why blog about it? We’re all social media types at these things, reading each others’ blogs, Utterz, Twitters, etc., anyway, right?

Well, there’s nothing like catching up with people in person once in a while. There is still no substitute. This goes for client meetings, press briefings, and any relationships. There are things you can do, impressions you can make, in person that you can’t do as well in text, over the Internet, or even on the phone.

A couple small examples of in-person interaction are below, posted via one of the new social media tools many of us discussed today, Seesmic.

Yikes, I think I am going to get sick from all of the camera swings (lol). Still, it was interesting and fun to see you and Bryan - the two I know.

I also think I see my dear college friend Timothy Jaiasonowski, now at Noikia, at the next table, but I can’t quite tell.

    Oh well.

I’m working on my camera technique. I’m an old radio guy, so I hold the camera like a microphone!

I don’t know if that was Timothy– anyone?

Kevin, there is always next time– like Bryper’s Social Media Breakfast on Dec 17?

Or SNCR or the Social Media Club event next week! (Thanks for the plug, Doug.)

It was, I just got a confirming Facebook message, how wild. It is a small world.

That is wild– same thing happened to me at PodCamp Boston– I missed an old college classmate who as there, but found out about it later via Paul Gillin’s blog and reconnected.
