I’m very pleased to announce that Morra Aarons-Mele has agreed to join next week’s SMC Boston Panel on “Civics, Social Media and the Countdown to Election ‘08″.
The event is Thursday, February 7th at 6pm at Harvard’s Institute of Politics.
Morra is a blogger and a political and Internet communications consultant. She is the political director of BlogHer.org, the largest site for women bloggers, with over 5.5 million unique visitors a month. She also serves as a frequent contributor to CNN and TechPresident.com. She was formerly the Director of Internet Marketing for both the Democratic National Committee and the Kerry-Edwards ‘04 campaign. As a graduate student at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, she specializes in women and leadership.
She’ll be joining moderator John Della Volpe, and panelist Joseph Carrabbis. John is director of polling at Harvard University’s Institute of Politics and founder of SocialSphere Strategies. Joseph is founder and chief research officer of NextStage, and successfully predicted (well in advance of the pundits) the demise of the Dean campaign–simply by analyzing media coverage.
We have touched on the topic of PR people, including those at agencies, having to be out front in the media more rather than sticking strictly behind the scenes. This proved to be the nugget of a podcast topic for MarketingProfs, and host Paul Dunay gathered premier PR blogger and podcaster (”For Immediate Release“) Shel Holtz and me to talk about that issue and a few others. A player and download link are below, but here is a link to Paul’s post as well.
What a thrill to be associated with MarketingProfs and with Shel. Please chime in on comments if you have thoughts on the topic (that includes fellow Topazers of course!)
