How to Turn a Slow Down into a Recession

Often on my drive to work, I find myself listening to WBZ in order to get traffic information on my long commute up the belly of the beast (495/Mass Pike/128). Today, while listening, I heard this insightful piece from Charles Osgood (theosgoodfiles.com) and had to laugh.
In his typical style, Charles pointed out what should be common sense in business – if you stop talking to your customers you won’t have any. I saw this sentiment echoed on a billboard in New Jersey on a recent family vacation – Stop Advertising: Lose Customers, Lose Revenue, Lose Your House.
Charles’ piece says it better than I can, and with humor comes insight – even in tough times, you need to keep communicating. Whether it’s PR or Advertising – if you don’t keep getting your message out, ultimately you will lose.
Charles used The Grinch – probably because it is the holiday season – maybe Horton Hears a Who would have fit just as well…

Great point — and I would add that companies need to keep communicating “with” customers, not just “to” them.
They don’t have to be heavy into social media to do so. Just ensure their frontline associates, customer service, etc., listen to and help customers, and even bend a company policy or two for the right situation.

Hi Mike – I agree. In today’s communication mix, balancing traditional with social media outreach is key. Thanks!
