My How Tech Has Changed
November 9th, 2009 by Tony Sapienza
I was thinking about our current roster of clients — in particular, the latest we’ve spotlighted in a recent news release, Evans Cooling System — and it struck me that we’ve come a long way in the tech PR space. Years back I can recall some questioning whether teleco was a legit focus for tech PR types. Today, it’s one of the most active parts of our business with clients like Acision, Novarra and ThinkFlood. And Evans — developer of a breakthrough waterless engine coolant — represents an even further extension of tech — into automotive and green technologies. One of Topaz’s most successful engagements is with the Scuderi Group, developer of innovative air-hybrid engine technology. There’s still plenty of “traditional” IT — in fact, we’ve seen a surgence in areas like semiconductors and hosted services (today often referred to as cloud computing). Topaz has steadfastly retained its focus on technology — avoiding tempations to jump ship with the tech doldrums hit. Whether its software, hardware or services for businesses, technologies for PC or mobile device users, or automotive technology innovations, it’s clear there’s even more opportunity for tech PR professionals today and going forward.

Tony,
Completely agree with you. Traditional software is here to stay but what we define at “technology clients” has come a long way. Obviously, technology is the force that drives most businesses today, to drive efficiencies and business results. A PR firm with a solid understanding of all areas of tech is sure to do well
