Mass. Tech Trek Wraps Up with Focus on Network Communications
December 12th, 2009 by Tony Sapienza
Robotics, cloud computing and finally the integration of telecommunications with other technologies — these were the three tech topics that were spotlighted in events around the Boston area this week. The final event was a “welcome breakfast” for members of MassNetComms, which will be combining with Mass Technology Leadership Council. The combination of these two organizations reflects something we’ve seen happening for years. There was a time when telecommunications and IT were seen as separate and distinct — but that’s not the case today. Internet mobility, email integration, cloud computing, mobile device applications — these are some examples the blending of these two worlds. And as MassTLC Chair Steve O’Leary mentioned Friday, the two organizations share a common commitment to innovation — driving, catalyzing, encouraging and recogizing innovation. I like to think that this commitment is shared by the entire tech community — and that’s a thread that runs through all of the events this week. Our region’s leadership in innovation — in these tech segments and others — is something we should celebrate.
