MassTLC Robotics Summit — Another Example of Innovative Spirit
December 8th, 2009 by Tony Sapienza
This morning’s Future of Robotics Summit organized by the Mass Tech Leadership Council reinforced one of my favorite themes — this region’s continued prominence as a hotbed of innovation. Whether its enterprise software, IT management, social media and marketing, mobile communications, green tech any one of dozens of other segments, you’ll find countless examples of how New England’s tech community is focusing on new and exciting innovations. Today, it was the robotics community’s day to shine, and while I caught only a portion of the day-long event, I learned a lot about the robotics work going on at regional research institutions. As pointed out in the introductions, our region has a remarkably diverse network of developers, tech users, and colleges and universities that contribute to innovation in robotics. Some of the presentations I saw focused on the UMass Lowell Robotics Lab and Brown University’s Robotics, Learning and Autonomy Lab. There’s much more to learn on this topic — the link above to the Council’s blog will get you started. Be ready to be impressed!
