Attention Social Media Holdouts — Even The Pope Promotes Posts

January 25th, 2010 by Tony Sapienza

Want another signal that social media is truly pervasive? How about the Pope going public to support social media as a way for priests to reach the masses. I spotted an Associated Press piece in Sunday’s Boston Globe that reports that Pope Benedict XVI — in his annual World Communication Day message — encouraged priests to go forth and blog. The AP story noted that the Pope’s Web presence has grown in recent years – and he now feels that others in the church should put social media to better use. If you’re reading this post, you can’t be a total hold-out…but if you’re not blogging yourself, you may want to heed the Pope’s advice and join the rest of the world in getting more social media active.
