How PR is Changing in the Era of Media Consolidation

May 12th, 2010 by Tony Sapienza

The most recent Topaz e-newsletter — sent out just a few weeks ago — talked about how PR is transforming in the age of media consolidation. We see examples of this all around us, every day — and we outlined just a few of these in the newsletter. The content contributions PR professionals can make is an obvious result of media consolidation — and its one we at Topaz are involved with constantly these days, with more and more article placements, blog comments, news release postings, etc. We just saw a report that reflects one of the more intriguing developments brought about by the changing media landscape — the shift of journalists from the media to the companies they once covered. We’ve learned that long-time Network World editor Denise Dubie just joined CA. She’s not the first to make this move, and she won’t be the last. Sam Whitmore interviewed Denise and comments on this move. It’s worth checking out Sam’s piece — and worth thinking about if you’re in a position to puruse a similar strategy.
