Birthdays and the Little Things
September 8th, 2010 by Alison Raymond
It’s almost that time of year again (for me) which inevitably comes to everyone – just not everyone celebrates it. Birthdays. My birthday is a week away and as I was checking my email, I noticed that a few of my favorite chain restaurants kept this little nugget of information in their databases and sent me emails wishing me a happy birthday and offering a little birthday deal.
It got me thinking, the little things can have a big impact and these types of promotions from brands really are a great way to keep your brand top-of-mind.
These types of targeted emails always remind me “Oh yeah, I haven’t eaten there lately. I should go soon.” And, yes, it is a small perk – and more enticing for me to go that week – if they send along a coupon in the email.
In these emails I received a free entrée, dessert, money off the bill and a birthday coffee.
And while I likely won’t use every offer sent (I’m not a dessert person), I do appreciate the gesture. A little glimmer of light as I come to the realization that I’m just getting old!
UNO’s, Margarita’s, the 99, On the Border, Dunkin Donuts and John Brewer’s, thanks for the b-day wishes!
I’d also like to give a shout out to some of the other September babies at Topaz – Mike Sapienza and Joanna DiTrapano!
How do you show your customers you appreciate their business?
