There has been huge growth in podcasts and videocasts that cover marketing, social media and PR issues. We've all appreciated the newfound access to reporters, vendors and academics. However, one drawback of this growth has been a similar approach in this media toward production, length, content—and most troubling of all—theme songs. Do you disagree? Do you think your podcast theme song stands apart from the crowd? The Battle of the Podcast Theme Songs will let the public decide.
In this corner, weighing in at at compact 266KB and almost taking full advantage of modern polyphonic technology: no, don't check your cell phone, it's the PRobecast theme song. Now in its 11th weekly episode, this scrappy upstart from tech PR agency Topaz Partners hopes to topple one of the industry greats.
And in this corner, weighing in at 385KB and playing Surf Punks to PRobecast's Devo: so close to the action you better keep a box of Band-Aids handy, it's the Cutting Edge theme song. Blog and podcast veteran Heather Green of BusinessWeek is about to celebrate her two year podcast anniversary, and what better way to celebrate than a victory here.
Have a listen to the two podcast theme songs and tell us which one will survive to meet the next challenger!

Want to enter your podcast into the contest? Send an email to battlepod@topazpartners.com with your name, the name of your podcast, and URLs to your blog, podcast and main website (if different). You'll also need to have the intro theme music available in an MP3 format (but please don't attach the music in your initial email--we're a little nervous about opening up attachments from people we may not know). We'll have a listen and tell you how to send the music file. Thanks!
Hey, we just started okay? No winners yet. Stay tuned!
